Our client offers a range of professional services to assist their clients in meeting statutory Fire Safety and Building Control obligations, reducing design and programme risk by integrating with clients and design teams to develop project proposals ready for submission to Building Control and Fire Authorities.

The Role:

As a Building Regulations Consultant, you will be an integral part of the design team, providing expert advice, assessments, and solutions to ensure compliance with Building Regulations. You will support the design process through RIBA stages, de-risking the design prior to full package submission to regulatory bodies. The role involves significant desktop studies of drawings, identifying non-compliant design issues early, and attending design team meetings, often via Teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and solutions for compliance with Building Regulations.

  • Conduct plan checking and desktop studies to identify design issues early.

  • Participate in design team meetings and collaborate with architects.

  • Deliver CPDs and workshops to clients and architects.

  • Travel to client sites and internal meetings as required.

  • Market and promote the business to develop client base and service offerings.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Ideally located in the South West but applicants from other areas are welcome.

  • Professional membership of a chartered body (CABE, RICS, or CIOB).

  • Proven experience as a Registered Building Inspector to at least Level 2F.

  • Strong understanding of the regulatory regime and compliance documents.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Competency in time management and project management.

  • Ability to travel, although the majoriy of the work will be desktop-based.

  • Existing client base in and around Bristol and the South West is advantageous.

  • Experienced in plan checking across a broad spectrum of schemes.

  • Enjoys being part of the design team and collaborating with architects.

  • Capable of identifying non-compliant design issues early.

  • Strong in marketing and promoting business services.
